ducttaperecorder replied to your post: How do you capture music in paint? How do you capture movement in paint?
See: Jackson Pollock His paintings seemed pointless and whimsical but he would listen to music and paint how it made him feel Every splatter had it’s place and every splatter had it’s meaning
Oh, Pollock. I judge him so hard. I just don’t get his work. Honestly, the only reason his work “aged well” is because it was innovative at the time, and he dared to be different. Today, you see a lot of mock artists who say, “oh, I can do that!” and replicate the style of his work, but don’t succeed because it’s already been done. Same goes for any other movement though, really.
Admitted, the pallets he chose for some works were beautiful, but I just don’t get the same impact from those as I do with say, Degas, Van Gogh, Freud, Manet, Monet, Lautrec, etc.
…Art ramble, sorry, bro.

I know exactly what you mean. I had always seen Pollock as a joke and couldn’t figure out why someone with the artistic skill of C4 managed to become so famous. It wasn’t until I took art my senior year that I got even remotely interested in him.
